Firefighter Killed In So Cal Blaze

Associated Press this afternoon is reporting one firefighter has been killed and three injured battling the largest blaze in San Diego County today.

Confirmation comes from a spokeswoman for the California Department of Forestry.

This is the first firefighter to be killed while battling the wildfires that have blackened hundreds of thousands of acres across Southern California. CDF spokeswoman Cathy Fritz says she has no additional details on the firefighter´s death.

Matt Mathes, regional spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service, said the firefighters were injured in Julian. He says the two injured firefighters are being treated for critical injuries.
