New Development Might Not Mean Better Roads

Sponsored by:

Developers of the proposed Oak Canyon Ranch resort community could build 520 homes, a golf course and more than 260 townhouse, hotel and motel units without being forced to improve any area roads.

That´s according to the revised draft environmental impact report, released recently by the Calaveras County Planning Department. It states Oak Canyon´s first phase could be developed without putting a significant crimp in local roads or intersections.

As a result, the Southern California developers looking to turn 3,251 acres of grazing land and oak woodlands west of Copperopolis into a mix of houses, golf courses, schools and a resort might not be required to make any improvements during that initial phase.

According to the revised draft report, Oak Canyon Ranch´s first phase of development could generate more than 9,600 daily trips.
