Child Molester Graduates from Treatment Program

Serial child molester Brian DeVries has become the first person to graduate from the state´s sex offender treatment program.
Department of Mental Health spokeswoman Nora Romero says there was no reason to hold him any longer after a judge earlier ordered him released from the program.
Santa Clara Superior Court Judge Robert Baines ordered DeVries sent to the Monterey County community of Soledad. The state is going to house DeVries in a trailer on land owned by a state prison there.
Residents of Soledad protested outside the courthouse yesterday, saying they don´t want a man like DeVries in their community. But, the judge said DeVries has completed an elaborate program to change his ways, and is no longer a risk.
