Boating Accident Kills a Man on New Melones

The Tuolumne County Sheriff´s office says an 18-year-old Pleasanton man is dead following a boating accident on New Melones Lake late Tuesday.
The victim was riding a personal watercraft and crossed the wake of a boat that was pulling a person on a knee board. According to Sheriff´s Lt. John Steely, he crossed the boat´s wake “where the loose rope was and it got caught around his neck.”
Paramedics were unable to revive the man when they arrived after 9:30 p.m. at the Tuttletown Launch Ramp.
An investigation is ongoing. The name of the victim is not being released.
