Former SLA Member In Court

Sponsored by:

A judge has set a March fourth trial date for former SLA fugitive James Kilgore. The 1970s radical and former Symbionese Liberation Army member faces federal explosives and passport fraud charges. He appeared in federal court in San Francisco today wearing a green jumpsuit and brown windbreaker. He smiled and chatted with his lawyers.

Kilgore is expected to work out a plea deal on state murder charges. Four other SLA members pleaded guilty in November to killing 42-year-old Myrna Opsahl during a bank robbery in 1975. They´ll be sentenced next month.

Defense lawyer Louis Freeman says no discussions with federal prosecutors are taking place.
