State Leaders to Bush: Don’t Support Drilling

Governor Davis and Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein are calling on the Bush administration to end efforts to develop offshore oil in California.
In a letter to President Bush, the California leaders ask that he halt plans to support opening 36 leases on the central coast for exploration.
The Justice Department has until Tuesday, April 1st, to decide whether to ask the Supreme Court to overturn a ruling that gives California a say in how coastal waters are developed.
