Areas Near Golden Gate to Reopen

Sponsored by:

Two public areas next to the Golden Gate Bridge are set to reopen now that the national terror alert level has been lowered to yellow. The yellow level signifies an elevated risk of terrorist attacks. It´s a step below the orange level, which had been in place since just before the war against Iraq began.

Golden Gate Bridge District spokeswoman Mary Currie says her agency remains at a heightened level of readiness.

The bridge district works with several law enforcement agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, National Guard and FBI, to monitor the bridge during times of heightened terrorism alerts.
