Yosemite Valley Hearing Underway

A congressional hearing on the controversial Yosemite Valley plan gets under way at this hour in the Yosemite National Park.
A local citizens group says the plan would will lock people out of park by cutting too many camp sites, taking away 70 percent of visitor parking, and forcing people to take buses in and out of the park.
The group also claims that the plan, especially the forced busing, would hurt businesses in small towns along the park´s border. Meanwhile, environmentalists say the Yosemite Valley plan is a balanced approach to possibly restoring some campgrounds that were wiped out by a flood in 1997. They say the plan only calls for having buses available as an option, when the park has more visitors than usual.
