Summers Cost More at UC Berkeley

Summer school at the University of California Berkeley has just gotten more expensive. Campus officials have announced a student fee increase to offset state funding cuts. The added fees will cost undergraduates $160 and graduate students $182. They apply to students already attending a U.C. campus, but not students from private colleges. They already pay higher fees to attend summer classes at Cal.
About 14,000 students are expected to enroll in courses at the university this summer. The first session begins Tuesday.
Fees for summer classes vary depending on the number of courses a student is taking. But with the $160 hike, students carrying an average 6 unit load will pay $922, or 21% more.
