Officials: SJ Valley Moving Toward Cleaner Air

San Joaquin Valley residents may soon breathe easier. The Valley€™s Air Pollution Control District adopted a plan last week to reduce particle pollution in the valley€™s air. But that€™s only the first step to putting the plan into action.
The district planning manager says the plan is just a blueprint for what€™s to come. The California Air Resources Board must now approve it. Then it€™ll go to the federal Environmental Protection Agency for final approval.
Meanwhile, opposition abounds from environmentalists and health advocates who claim the plan doesn´t go far enough. Farmers and builders also say the plan needs to be more flexible to meet the needs of the valley€™s diverse industries.
