Nesler Surrenders To Authorities

Sponsored by:

The search for William Nesler has ended.

Nesler, the son of infamous vigilante mom Ellie Nesler, turned himself in to a bounty hunter in Sacramento last night. Police then arrested him on a murder charge.

Auhtorities had combed Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties for Nesler for the past week and a half.

Nesler is suspected in the beating death of another man just hours after he was released from jail for assaulting the same man on a separate occasion.

There was no word on how long he will remain at the Sacramento County Jail, where he was booked on a no-bail fugitive warrant.

Tuolumne County sheriff´s Sgt. Roger Dittberner said that as of Wednesday night there had been no arrangements for Nesler´s transfer to Sonora. Deputies probably will travel to Sacramento today to pick him up, Dittberner said.

Nesler´s mother became well-known in the state when she walked into a Jamestown courtroom in 1993 and shot to death a man accused of molesting her son.

Ellie Nesler was arrested again in 2002 for buying drugs. She´s currently serving a six-year sentence in Valley State Prison for Women in Chowchilla.
