Possible Bomb Found Near Groveland

Tuolumne Sheriffs deputies in Groveland are awaiting the arrival of the Calaveras County Bomb Squad to determine whether or not a suspicious devise found attached to a road sign on Highway 120 and Memorial Drive is some type of explosive.

The road will be close while the bomb squad personnel remove the device.

The call first went out around 8:30 a.m. after the device was found by a worker.

Tuolumne County Sheriffs Sgt. Joe Romeo said the device, is was wrapped in duct tape with wires coming out of the bottle.

When the bomb disposal unit arrives, authorities will shut down Highway 120 in the area between Big Oak Flat and Groveland while the bomb squad personnel remove the device and determine if it is dangerous.

Authorities are asking people to stay out of the area if possible until the situation is resolved.
