Sponsored by:

The 5-acre fire is contained, and Highway 108 has been reopened.

As of 2:30 this afternoon, the California Department of Forestry is saying the fire along Highway 108 east of Stockton Road has been contained.

And just after 3pm, CHP Spokesman Tom Wills confirmed the highway had been officially reopened.

Fire crews and air tankers have been released from the scene, and mop-up crews are planning to spend much of this afternoon out there to clean up.

The cause of the fire was said to be a pickup truck with an RV trailer, which overheated and caught fire. When fire crews arrived at the scene, the truck and trailer were fully engulfed in flames and had been completely destroyed.

Several structures were threatened by the fire, but none have been reported burned. Also, some houses and a day care center were evacuated because of the fire´s proximity.
