Pattison Fire 20 Percent Contained, 10 Homes Lost

Sponsored by:

The Pattison Complex Fire is now 20 percent contained, and officials are estimating full containment by 8am Sunday.

The fire has consumed 1650 acres, and has destroyed ten homes, along with numerous outbuildings, vehicles, and equipment.

Red flag wind conditions Friday caused the fire to move quickly through the vegetation and spot up to a quarter-mile ahead of itself.

Approximately 3000 people were evacuated from their homes, in the areas of La Contenta, Quail Oaks, and Rancho Calaveras east of Baldwin.

Those evacuated from La Contenta and everything on the south side of Highway 26 were released to go back home at midnight.

The evacuations on the north side of Highway 26 remained in effect Saturday morning.

The CDF says due to the windy conditions, the fire remains active throughout the fire zone. Winds are predicted to continue through Sunday night.

Fire conditions remain at critical levels, so officials warn everyone to use extreme caution over the weekend, especially those planning camping trips in the forest.
