Victim Identified in Fatal Tuesday Crash

The victim´s name in that fatal, fallen-tree related accident, has been released.

The California Highway Patrol says a 68-year-old Arnold man… now identified as Delbert Leroy Jeffries… was killed when a large oak tree fell on the passenger side of a 1987 GMC Suburban.

It happened at 11am yesterday, about five miles north of Dunbar Road, in the White Pines area.

The vehicle was moving slowly… about 5 miles per hour… through heavy snow on Summit Level Road near the Stanislaus National Forest.

40-year-old Steven Lucero, of Stockton, was driving the SUV. He was not hurt.

65-year-old Raymond Ottria of Angels Camp was in the back seat, and was also uninjured.

The area reportedly had a few inches of snow on the ground at the time.
