A tour inside the not-yet-open Tuolumne Mi Wuk Health Care Center was conducted by Tribe members today.

The tribal chairman, Kevin Day, says even though opening day is in January, they´re still proud to be able to serve the community.

“We set it up for the Indian people, of course, we want to provide them with a real good service, and with that, comes along service for the entire community. That´s our intent,” said Day at the clinic´s open house, Friday morning.

County Supervisor Jim Peterson was also on hand for a tour today, and he called the facilities beautiful.

“I just heard they´re going to even have some traditional Native American-type practitioners. They´ve got rooms for them and some of the elders of the tribe. Of course, this facility will be available for everyone in the communtiy, and I think it will really expand health care in Tuolumne County,” Peterson said Friday.

Ten exam rooms, a laboratory, and other amenities will be part of the new clinic, opening in Tuolumne early next year.
