Deal Offered If Stockton Killer Helps Find Bodies

San Joaquin County prosecutors are offering to spare a condemned killer´s life — if he helps them find the bodies of some of his victims.
The district attorney´s office wants Wesley Shermantine Junior to also testify against a long-time friend in return for immunity for any of his crimes that are uncovered in the future.
Shermantine is the only one who can lead police to the body of Cyndi Vanderheiden.
Her slaying six years ago brought murder convictions for Shermantine and his friend, Loren Herzog.
But Herzog is being retried for his alleged role in her slaying after an appeals court overturned his conviction and 78-year prison sentence in August.
The body of a second alleged victim also has not been found.
