Man Accused Of Stealing 17,000 Gallons Of Gas

A case of gasoline theft out of Modesto is not your usual kind of gas theft.
29-year-old Gradie Cowens was arrested by Modesto Police Wednesday, accused of stealing 17-thousand gallons of gas from Boyett Petroleum using a stolen City of Modesto gas card account. Police had been made aware of the theft, following the auction of a vehicle from Modesto´s fleet of city vehicles.
Cowens was arrested for an outstanding drug warrant, and also found him in possession of marijuana packaged for sale. They also found the missing gas card in his possession. Cowens was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail, on theft and drug charges.
The investigation into the case continues.
