Judge Excuses Accused ‘Stealth’ Juror

A potential juror accused of lying to try to get on the jury for Scott Peterson´s double-murder trial won´t be serving as a juror.

Judge Alfred Delucchi dismissed the unidentified Redwood City woman yesterday after meeting with lawyers behind closed doors. Defense lawyer Mark Geragos ago accused the retired secretary of telling her friends that Peterson was “guilty as hell.” Geragos says he found out about the woman´s alleged comments when a tipster called his office The woman has denied the allegations.

Opening statements in the case are scheduled to begin May 17th. Before then, at least 18 jurors, including six alternates, need to be chosen.

Peterson could face the death penalty if he´s found guilty of killing his pregnant wife, Laci. He has pleaded innocent.
