Defense To Deliver Opening Statements In Peterson Case

The defense is scheduled to deliver opening statements this morning in the double-murder trial of Scott Peterson.
Yesterday the prosecutor made his opening statements in what will be a largely circumstantial case against Peterson. Prosecutor Rick Distaso listed to jurors what he implied were a series of lies Peterson told authorities and relatives about his whereabouts the day his wife, Laci, disappeared.
Defense attorney Mark Geragos objected several times to Distaso´s presentation. Geragos has countered that authorities unfairly targeted Peterson from the start.
Opening statements are scheduled to begin at 9:00.
