Board Of Supervisors To Select Rogers Replacement

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — In the wake of the announcement that Tuolumne County Sheriff Dick Rogers will be stepping down today for health reasons, it´s now up to the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors to consider the options involved with filling the position until the end of the term.

Rogers submitted his resignation to the board in early December saying he would stay in office until the end of his term in January 2007.

However, that changed after Rogers was advised by his doctors not to return to work after suffering a serious heart attack nearly three weeks ago. County Undersheriff Lee Sanford has been appointed interim Sheriff until a replacement is found to finish out the term.

At this Tuesday´s board meeting, the Supervisors are slated to set a date and time to make that decision.

The Sheriff´s Department says the board can decide to retain Sanford in the position, conduct an open recruitment or appoint an interim Sheriff other than Sanford.
