Big Trees South Grove Closes

Arnold, CA — Today marks a sign of the season – the closing of the road to the South Grove in Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
The closure normally takes place with the first big storm of the season. However, this year park officials will clear up some hazard trees and perform other maintenance projects before the first big snow comes.
And for the first time in recent memory, the North Grove Campground will shut down for the winter beginning December 1. The money saving measure is set to last through March.
Park officials said the North Grove trail and Visitors Center will remain open.
