All Eight Statewide Ballot Propositions Defeated

Sacramento, CA — All eight statewide propositions on last night´s special election ballot have been defeated by California voters.

With 99% of the precincts reporting, proposition 73, the parental notification bill, stands opposed by 53% of the voters.

Prop 74 which deals with teacher tenures was defeated with 55% against. The union dues proposition, number 75, fell with 53% of the voters opposing, while prop 76, which would have imposed a mandatory spending cap on state government fell to a count of 62% opposed.

The other measures to fall last night were one that would have changed the way the state´s voting districts are drawn, two prescription drug propositions and one that shifted the regulation of the state´s electricity providers.
