Struggling Medical Committee Gains Interest

San Andreas, CA — For the last few times the Emergency Medical Services Oversight Committee has met, it has failed to create a quorum.

But that´s all about to change Monday morning as the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors is set to appoint four people to fill vacancies on the committee.

The committee is advisory to the Mountain Valley Emergency Medical Services Agency, which provides emergency service to Calaveras, Alpine, Amador, Mariposa and Stanislaus counties.

Calaveras County Administrative Officer Tom Mitchell recently urged supervisors to talk to their respective representatives on the committee.

He also noted the City of Angels has yet to fill it´s seat on the committee. According to Angels officials, that´s not going to happen any time soon.

City Administrator Judy King said the city appointed its fire chief to the committee, but the county has yet to let him serve. The reason being that the county feels a fire chief has a conflict of interest since fire districts could potentially become emergency medical service providers.
