CDF Officials Urge Caution While Burning

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — CDF officials are warning residents to use extreme caution while burning this time of year.

Karry Hubbard of CDF says numerous debris burns have escaped over the past week requiring the dispatch of fire crews.

Hubbard says that despite cooler temperatures, grass and trees remain dry and susceptible to ignition.

Residents are reminded to follow all requirements outlined on their burn permits, and exercise vigilance while burning.

Hubbard says it´s important to have proper clearance around the burn pile and to have a tool and water handy. Residents are also required to remain in attendance of the pile, and make sure it is dead out before leaving.

Officials say none of the escapes have resulted in serious damage, but the danger level remains high.
