U.S. Forest Service Reveals Five Year Management Plan

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The U.S. Forest Service has come out with its five-year plan to reduce hazardous fuels and manage vegetation on more that 110,000 acres in the Stanislaus National Forest.

The program was developed with input from the public in response to a review by the Washington D.C. office released last June.

The new plan will expedite operations to reduce hazardous vegetation around communities and areas where watersheds and wildlife habitat may be threatened.

Forest officials say the plan will have a favorable economic impact by increasing timber harvests to increase production levels at local sawmills.

Officials say the public will be welcome to provide further input as the program is periodically reviewed over the next five years.
