Supervisors Grant Delay In Release Of Lewin Report
Sonora, CA — The panel charged with the task of assembling a report focusing on problems and solutions with the operations of Tuolumne General Hospital is getting more time.
The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors granted a request today by the hospital to extend the release date of the Lewin Group Report.
A three member team from the hospital addressed the board, saying that reparations to the facility´s accounting system is causing a delay in the completion of the study.
Business Manager Carrol Hope says the changes are designed to increase the efficiency of the billing and collections process. She says her goal is to realize more revenue by stepping up collections of delinquent accounts and updating the facility´s coding system in order to collect the maximum amount of government reimbursement for the treatment of MediCal recipients.
A draft of the report is now due October 18th, although the board could extend that date by as much as another 30 days.
The supervisors are also slated to re-examine the hospital´s budget in August.
County accountants say the hospital may require an additional one million dollars on top of 1.8 already budgeted by the end of the fiscal year.
