Investigators Examine Knife That May Have Been Planted At Peterson House

Modesto, CA — Modesto police are skeptical after the new owner of the home where Scott and Laci Peterson lived says a knife was found in the back yard.
Gerry Roberts, who bought the three-bedroom house earlier this month, says two friends found the 10 inch knife in a wood cabinet while cleaning the backyard last week.
Roberts also confirmed that he is considering releasing photos of the knife to a tabloid magazine.
Modesto police have sent the ten-inch knife to a crime lab for testing after receiving a media inquiry. It could be weeks before the results come back because the test is considered low priority.
Police spokesman Rick Applegate says “there is nothing to make us believe the knife was used in the crime.”
