Sacramento, CA — Here´s a look at the new California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and what changed from the old system.

The Youth and Adult Correctional Agency becomes the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Its secretary is Roderick Hickman, 49, of Sacramento. Under that department are several renamed divisions:

– Division of Adult Institutions (formerly the Department of Corrections). Joseph McGrath, 50, of Lodi, is chief deputy secretary for adult operations; and John Dovey, 51, of El Dorado Hills, is director of the Division of Adult Institutions.

– Division of Juvenile Justice (formerly the California Youth Authority). Bernard Warner, 50, of Tallahassee, Fla., becomes chief deputy secretary for juvenile justice.

– Board of Parole Hearings (combines three former entities – the Board of Prison Terms, Youth Authority Board and the Narcotic Addict Evaluation Authority). A director has yet to be named.

– Corrections Standards Authority (combines the Commission on Correctional Peace Officer Standards and Training, and the Board of Corrections). A director has yet to be named.
