Sponsored by:

The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Monday to send a letter to Forest Supervisor Tom Quinn requesting information about logging on forest land in Calaveras County.

The Board of Supervisors agreed that they want to protect mill jobs and support efforts to further thin the Stanisluas National Forest. Supervisor Merita Callaway said that despite not being on the Forest Service´s Christmas list, she believes that thinning is necessary to keep the forest safe. The Board will be hear why logging sales on forest land has dropped by the Forest Supervisor himself, Tom Quinn, on March 28th. Seirra Pacific Industries officials say the drop is the reason why 150 employees at its mills in Tuolumne County will be temporarily layed off.
