Traffic To Be Detoured During Mother Lode Parade

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Sonora Police are once again warning Sonora residents that getting into and out of town may be difficult tomorrow during the MotherLode Round-up Parade.

Officer Glenn Roberts of the Sonora Police Department says several detours will be in place. Roberts says Washington Street will be closed at the bypass to Restano Way beginning at 8:30 in the morning.

Then starting at 9:30, Washington will be closed from Elkin Street from the Red Church to Restano Way. Motorists coming Eastbound into Sonora from Stockton Road heading North on Highway 49 to Columbia can take Forest Road to Racetrack to Highway 49.

Roberts says motorists heading eastbound can also take Jamestown-Shaws Flat road to highway 49 in Columbia. He adds that drivers entering town northbound on highway 49 will be routed from Washington Street to Elkin Street, then to Stewart Street. From there, drivers will be able to bypass the parade route using side streets.

Meanwhile drivers coming from the East will only be allowed to take Stewart Street north to Elkin, and then north on highway 49. Roberts also says there will be no cross traffic on Washington Street during the parade.

Police are reminding the public that there will be a large volume of pedestrian traffic and a little patience will go a long way
