Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Progress continues on the installation of a new playing surface at Sonora High School´s Dunlavy Field.

Sonora High Principal Terry Clark says a local contractor has been selected and crews have a start-date set for the project to begin. He says the local contractor will begin work on the field´s drainage system on June 6th, which will take about three weeks to complete.

The Field Turf company will then begin the actual installation of the grass which is expected to take about two more weeks, making the projected completion date sometime in mid-July.

Clark says fund raising efforts are also underway for new lights and a track for the stadium, in addition to a new softball field. He says the school needs to raise about $900,000 for the new additions.

Clark says the project is receiving widespread voluntary support from the community and several fund-raising events are in the planning stages.

Officials say if all goes well, the lights could be installed by fall, and the track could be finished by next summer.
