Evidence Debated Against Lodi Pair Charged In Terrorist Camp Case

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — A federal judge is limiting evidence that must be turned over to a father and son from Lodi who are being held on terrorism-related charges.

The judge says they must only be given what pertains directly to the charges that they lied to investigators.

Hamid Hayat is charged with two counts of lying to the F-B-I when he says he did not attend a terrorism camp in Pakistan in 2003 and 2004. His father, Umer Hayat is charged with lying to investigators by denying his son attended the camp.

The judge says prosecutors have to disclose little evidence beyond what is needed to prove that the men lied to the F-B-I. Defense attorneys strongly object and say they may file motions seeking additional disclosures.
