Jamestown, CA — A pair of Big Oak Flat residents were arrested by Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Deputies Sunday and charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.

50 year old Joy Lynn Carmen of Bairds Rd. and 36 year old Jeffrey Tolentino of Elder Lane were taken into custody when they were spotted near a tan 1990 Dodge van in the aforementioned area.

As Special Services Deputy Jon Hill was checking the van he saw Carmen walk away from the area. When she realized she had been spotted she quickly pulled several hand tools from under her shirt and threw them to the ground.

When Tolentino approached the area he immediately ran when he spotted Hill, Sgt. Craig Davis and Deputy Rich Champlin. He was apprehended in the act of throwing tools to the ground.

The investigation indicated the two had cut and removed a quantity of copper wiring from the mine site. Further investigation is being conducted to determine if any additional materials have been stolen.

Carmen and Tolentino were transported to the Tuolumne County Jail where they were booked. They remain in custody with bail set at $15,000.
