Bob Cutler Receives Irving Symons Award

Sponsored by:

Murphys, CA — A grateful and humble Robert E. Cutler received the Irving Symons Award at the Sixth Joie de Vie Gala Sunday evening at Ironstone Vineyards.

The event is a benefit for the Cancer Patient Support Fund at Sonora Regional Medical Center.

The 65 year resident of Tuolumne County is a 18 year member and past president of the Sonora Rotary, a 52 year member of the Sonora Elks and he was a 12 year member of the Sonora Community Hospital Auxiliary where he installed Lifeline units in patients´ homes. Cutler, and his late wife Grace, were long-time members and leaders of the Tuolumne County Humane Society and the Spay Neuter Program.

Cutler has already determined that he will leave his 67 acre property and home to the City of Sonora to be used as part of the city parks and trails system. The city was able to purchase the property with a $500,000 grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation. The grant is funded by Proposition 40, a 2002 statewide ballot measure that provides cash for parks, recreation and conservation projects.

The Irving Symons Award, named after the late Irving Symons, recognizes long-term, outstanding community service. Former recipients include Irving Symons, Frank Salel and H. Randolph Holder.
