CDF Cuts Back Staff

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — It´s that time of the year when fire crews begin to dwindle in size as the risk of catastrophic fire lessens.

In response to cooler temperatures and the recent rains, CDF is implementing transitional staffing for the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit.

All fire stations will become one-engine stations. At the Columbia Air Attack Base, the air attack plane and two air tankers are going off line. The two bulldozers and helicopter will remain staffed as needed.

Baseline and Vallecito conservation camps will have normal staffing during the week and at least one crew on the weekend.

Unit Chief Michael Noonan says continued vigilance with activities that can start wildfires is still essential.

The Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit covers Calaveras and Tuolumne counties and eastern portions of San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties.
