The Tuttle Reflection

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County and those who knew him through the Mother Lode continue to mourn the sudden passing of District Attorney Jeff Tuttle.

The 59 year old Tuttle died of an apparent heart attack Sunday evening. He was in his 10th year as District Attorney and was running unopposed for still another term.

From Sheriff Dennis Downum, “You never knew what social event you might go to and see Jeff. He was always playing his guitar. He was just a fun guy and very easy to talk to, just kind of a down home guy. We’re just going to miss him a lot.”

From Tuolumne County District Attorney Donald Segerstrom, “We worked together on a number of cases where there were items or issues of mutual interest. There was a case some years ago where the Russian Mafia had committed some homicides in the Los Angeles area and they elected to dispose of the bodies in New Melones Reservoir. Obviously that is the county line and so we had to work together on that. Jeff was always a pleasure to work with, he was a true gentleman. It’s just a real sad thing to hear about.”
