Update: Flooded Roads Across Mother Lode

Update at 5:10 p.m.: A mudslide has shut down Woodhouse Road Mine Road at the Highway 26 intersection. The CHP is reporting it will remain close overnight.

Update at 3 p.m.: The CHP is now reporting that the intersection of Marshes Flat Road near Sunset Oaks Lane at the “first creek” in the Don Pedro area has been closed. There is no word on when it may reopen. Also, nearly 30 feet of Kewin Mill Road near the Comstock Ranch Road  intersection is immersed in water and that section has been closed, according to the CHP. Additionally, officials with the Tuolumne County roads department have shut down two sections of roadway. One on Sims Road between Red Hills Road and Highway 120. The other is on Red Hills Road from J-59 to Sims Road.

Update at 2 p.m.: In Tuolumne County, several roads are experiencing flooding. The CHP reports that in the 13400 block of Sims Road in the Chinese Camp area a mud slide and flooding caused a crash. Luckily, there were no injuries. There is flooding on Marshes Flat Road near Highway 49 in the Moccasin area as well as along East Rhine River Drive near Longeway Road in Sonora. In Calaveras County, the CHP is reporting a trees down on Highway 26 at the Deardorff Road intersection blocking the highway. Further traffic hazards can viewed below.

Update at 1pm: The Calaveras County Public Works Department reports that there is now flooding reported in the Arnold area on Meadowmont Way, Pine Drive, Stagg Way and Second Street. There is also flooding in the Murphys community along Main Street. Other areas hit hard include Lower Michel Road and Deer Run. There are trees down along Woodhouse Mine Road, East Murray Creek, Toyanza Drive and Lower Michael Road. There are multiple mudslides along Railroad Flat Road between Railroad Flat and Wilseyville and Winton Road about a half mile from Highway 26. There is also extensive road damage on Thunderbolt Lane at the Corner of Mustang Road. You will need to avoid those areas this afternoon.

Update at 12:05pm: Calaveras County was notably hit hard by the torrential rainfall this morning. The public works department has provided an update on conditions.

There are currently mudslides in various locations along Mountain Ranch Road and on Railroad Flat Road at Blizzard Mine Road.

Roadway flooding is reported on Boards Crossing Road off Highway 4, Calaveritas Road at Old Gulch Road, Doster Road, Fourth Crossing Road at Highway 49,  Independence Road by the cemetery, Pool Station Road between Highway 4 and six miles from Highway 49, Railroad Flat Road and Thunderbolt Lane as seen in our video here.

In addition, county officials note that nearly 150 trees have fallen since last Friday due to the stormy weather. Today more came down in various areas on Main Street in Murphys.

It is advised not to drive through any standing water and contact Calaveras County Public Works immediately at (209) 754-6401 to report any road related issues.

Highway 49 continues to be closed near Carol Kennedy Road due to roadway flooding and a tree in the roadway.

Flooding is also reported on Highway 26 near Stanley Road, as well as Woodhouse Mine Road. On Highway 12, there are mudslides near Double Springs Road and North Clements Road.

In Tuolumne County, there is flooding on Parrotts Ferry Road near the bridge over New Melones and on Highway 49 near Fraguero Road. You will want to avoid all of those areas.

Original story posted at 9:39am: San Andreas, CA — Parts of Calaveras County have particularly been hit hard by a heavy storm system this morning.

There is a power line down across Highway 4 near Forest Meadows Drive, so you will want to avoid the area. Highway 26 in completely flooded, for about 100 feet, near Deardorff Road. Also on Highway 26, there is a rock and mud slide near Woodhouse Mine Road between Glencoe and West Point. There is an unidentified hazard closing Pool Station Road near Demarest Mine Road. On Highway 49, near Carol Kennedy Drive, there is a tree across the roadway, in addition to roadway flooding.

In Tuolumne County, Bell Mooney Road, between Highway 108 and Jacksonville Road, is closed due to flooding.

Allow extra time, and prepare for traffic delays, if heading out this morning.
