Mountain Ranch, CA – Calaveras County Sheriff’s officials have issued a public alert in hopes of finding a missing 16-year-old teen who was last seen at her home in Mountain Ranch on Sunday.

Sheriff’s officials have determined that Kayla Faith Black is a runaway. Her family reported seeing her for the last time at around 4 p.m. Investigators believed she was picked up by an unknown person from the rural home. Black has her cell phone on her, but it is turned off, leaving no trace of her whereabouts through GPS tracking. Sheriff’s officials further believed that the location settings on her cell phone have disabled.

Kayla has a history of mental health issues and did not take her medications prior to leaving, according to detectives, who add that she is not believed to be a danger to herself at this time. Sheriff’s officials say Black could be heading to the Livermore area where she previously lived. Investigators also think that she has been communicating with a subject in the Tracy area, but would not release any further details on that person.

Sheriff’s officials provided this description of Black. She is 5’5″ tall and 100 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what clothing she was wearing. If anyone has information regarding her whereabouts they are asked to call Calaveras County Sheriff’s Detective Ken Grognet at (209)754-6500 or the anonymous tip line at (209) 754-6030.
