Leadership Tuolumne Class of 2017 Raises Funds For Foster Kids

Sponsored by:

Jamestown, CA — Suffice it to say a lot of eggs were cracked and omelettes eaten Sunday morning — all to support local foster care.

This year’s Leadership Tuolumne participants, who chose to help augment assistance for foster kids in the county as the focus of their community project efforts, pulled together a breakfast event at the Sheriff’s Posse Clubhouse. Their efforts will add about $4,500 to the county’s often strapped foster care program coffers.

Attendees, at $10 a ticket, enjoyed made-to-order omelettes prepared under the direction of Black Oak Casino and Resort Executive Chef Ed Wickman. Although no one kept an egg or plate count, Chef Dave Ingram and Columbia College Dean of Career and Technical Education Klaus Tenbergen helped a team of culinary program students maintain an impressive pace for the three-hour duration of the event.

From 8 until 11 a.m. guests also had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items that included San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s baseball tickets, courtesy of Black Oak Casino as well as take part in a raffle with prizes that ranged from a bi-plane ride and overnight stay at Rush Creek Lodge to numerous gifts and certificates from local merchants.

The Leadership Tuolumne program is sponsored each year by the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce and remains well-supported by the business community. This year’s “Class of 2017” members are: Brian Bell, Tuolumne County Community Resource Agency; Edward Wickman, Black Oak Casino and Resort; Jesse Madden, TEDA/Bear Creek Station; Jen Lopez, Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau; Tammy Hammond, Academy Mortgage; Danielle Sandelin, Umpqua Bank; Laura Jennings, Century 21 Realty/Wildwood Properties; Joseph Bors, Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency; Mike Suess, Suess Insurance; Kellae Brown, Center for a Nonviolent Community.
