Man Steals Marijuana From Grandfather fighting Cancer
Sonora, CA — A Tuolumne County Sheriff’s K-9 helped sniff out drugs from a vehicle after a traffic stop on Mono Way in Sonora Tuesday morning.
A deputy pulled over the vehicle due to a broken windshield, which was driven by the 20-year-old Jonathan Ross from Sonora. Ross and his two passengers, Timothy Reis, 23, from Stockton and Brett Schmidt, 25, from Groveland were all on searchable probation. The deputy put K-9 Beau’s nose to the test and the dog signaled that there was something suspicious in the trunk. A search revealed five pounds of marijuana, nearly three pounds of it buds, hidden inside a speaker box and a case of beer next to it.
During questioning, the three admitted they planned to sell the weed. Ross confessed that the weed was stolen from his 90-year-old grandfather who suffers from cancer.
The three were arrested for selling or transporting marijuana, possession of marijuana or hashish for sale, criminal conspiracy, burglary, and transportation of marijuana. The bail for all three is $50,000 each.
