Gang involvement seen in weekend LA County shooting
EL MONTE, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide investigators believe a weekend shooting that killed one man and wounded another was gang-related.
The shooting was reported Sunday afternoon in El Monte. Officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Witnesses reported that another man fled into an apartment complex. Officers found the man, who also had multiple gunshot wounds, and he was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
“Detectives believe the males are involved in gangs and were in an ongoing dispute over a vehicle. Both males shot each other and both firearms were recovered at the scene,” a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department statement said.
