Sonora, CA — Mother Lode residents should do their best to stay cool this weekend due to extreme temperatures headed this way.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory, which is in effect until 9:00pm Saturday.
The combination of a very hot air mass and monsoonal moisture will create hot and humid conditions.
Most Mother Lode residents below 2,000 feet will experience overnight temperatures between 80 and 85 degrees. Reports indicate the heat index for today and Saturday will be at least 105 degrees.
Health officials are advising residents to drink plenty of water, stay in an air-conditioned room, avoid the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors susceptible to heat illness.
