Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will be considering what could be, monumental changes in the county´s cell phone tower regulations today at its weekly meeting.
With more and more individuals depending on the use of cell phones for both business and personal use, there is genuine concern that the county needs to rethink and update its three year old policy that severely limits the construction of additional towers. The supervisors have requested a number of options that would improve cell phone coverage.
One proposal from the county´s Community Development Department would eliminate the minimum distance that has been required between residentially zoned property and a cell tower. If only this proposal was adopted, close to 38,000 acres of county land would become available for tower construction. Today´s appointment is set for 1:30.
