Prescribed Burn Set For Monday

Sonora, CA — The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will be conducting a control burn project in the Valley Springs area at New Hogan Reservoir today.

The burn is scheduled to start at noon and run through 2PM. The five acre burn will be at the west side of the reservoir near Hogan Dam Road.

Firefighters will ignite the burn by hand and then progress around the perimeter of the project, widening control lines and generating fire that will then burn the vegetation on the interior section of the burn.

Fire suppression resources will be staged in the area of the burn to assist in extinguishment of any fire that crosses the control lines.
