Parole Head Removed Amid Controversy Over Sex Offenders
Sacramento, CA — Stung by headlines about sex offenders near Disneyland, the Schwarzenegger administration is removing the head of the prison system´s parole division.
The dismissal is the latest in a months long leadership shake up at the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, which is under its third secretary since February.
Jim L´Etoile, director of the Parole and Community Services Division, is being removed from his job amid complaints from lawmakers that the department was placing high-risk sex offenders in hotels near Disneyland and at San Quentin State Prison.
The department says 23 offenders had been housed within 11 miles of the park in Anaheim that draws thousands of children.
