Sacramento, CA– Governor Schwarzenegger and legislative leaders are flying around the state today to trumpet the 37 and one-third billion-dollar public works bond package passed last week.
But they are not vouching for how long their bipartisanship will last in an election year. Both Schwarzenegger and Democratic Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunezof Los Angeles said at a Burbank appearance that they will appear together in the campaign to pass the bonds.
But they skirted questions about how that might affect the November contest for governor. As the governor put it, “I´m looking forward to traveling and campaigning with everybody, everybody. It makes no difference.”
He praised Democratic legislators for passing the bonds, which are widely seen as a lift for his re-election campaign. Schwarzenegger said he was “very impressed” that Democrats found it important to think about what is best for the people rather than what is best for the parties.
