Angels Camp, CA — The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Fog Jubilee will begin in less than two weeks and will run 5 days this year.
Officials held a media dinner Wednesday to release some details about this year´s event. Saddle Queen and Miss Calaveras contestants were on hand kissing frogs as is customary.
Heritage Day will open the fair on Wednesday the 17. County residents will get half priced admission that day. The Calaveras Saddle Queen and Miss Calaveras scholarship pageants will also be decided Wednesday.
Thursday is Cowboy Kids Day where the first 500 kids through the gate receive a free cowboy hat. Also Thursday the parade will take place in downtown Angels Camp.
Friday is Senior Day. Loverboy performs at 8 p.m.
Saturday is Hillbilly Hay Day. Hot Apple Pie performs after the Calaveras Idol finals.
Finally, Sunday is International Frog Jump Day. On Sunday a mainstay of the fair takes place. It is the junior livestock auction, which last year netted half a million dollars.
A new feature of the fair this year is the local rodeo. 6 teams of 5 local cowboys will compete in Western horse events.
Also officials are touting over 100 shopping opportunities throughout the exhibit halls and fairgrounds.
