Public Works Bond Meetings To Continue Today
Sacramento, CA — Legislative leaders say they´re close to agreeing on a public works bond package worth more than $35 billion, but they haven´t quite pinned down the elusive compromise.
The four leaders held three negotiating sessions Wednesday, including one that ran late into the evening. They´ve scheduled another meeting for this morning, and both the Assembly and Senate plan late afternoon sessions today in anticipation of votes that could put the four-part proposal on the November ballot.
Revival of a plan to provide billions of dollars for transportation improvements, school construction, flood control upgrades and housing projects would mark a victory for lawmakers of both parties and Governor Schwarzenegger.
