Winter Storm Warning Goes Into Effect At 6:00pm
Sonora, CA — The National Weather Service has changed their storm watch advisory for the Sierras to a Winter Storm Warning beginning at 6:00pm.
Rain and snow will redevelop by this afternoon as a cold front approaches the area.
Snow levels will drop to 5,500 feet and snow will become heavy at times by this evening.
Wind gusts of up to 60 MPH will create occasional white out conditions tonight and Sunday.
Snow levels are expected to lower to 4,000 feet by Sunday. Up to two feet of new snow is expected above 7,000 feet, a foot is possible near 5,000 feet by Sunday night and there will be several inches in the lower elevations.
The storm warning will end on Sunday at 10:00pm.
